It was really late at night, Laura had just come back from mid-city with a big douffle bag of canned goods. She walked along the little rows of shacks, trying to stay in the shadows as to not be seen my any sentients patrolling about. She knocked as quietly as possible on a few doors. She handed a few cans to each shack then continued on her way.

"You want to be careful."

An almost silent mutter from the shadows; Demetrios wore the shade so thickly, he was essentially invisible. His voice held a warmth it had not at their last meeting - assumably, he either approved, or this was what he sounded like when curious.

Or it could mean something else entirely.

Either way, he did not step out of the darkness, merely watched.

Laura froze and looked around. "Who's there?" She whispered, knowing it couldn't have been a sentient, they would probably have grabbed her by the throat already. She looked around straining her eyes and whispered again, "Show yourself."

A chuckle, quiet, but somehow frighteningly lethal.

"I don't need to."

Laura trembled and blinked. She was confused as to what the person meant by that. Gripping her bag tightly, she asked again, "Who's there? Show yourself." She wanted to run but was frozen, curiosity always got the best of her.

"Someone you won't remember."

These words were, without a doubt, a threat, even if one veiled with smoke and velvet, gentle in it's intonation. Without showing himself, Demetrios disappeared into the myriad of streets, away from her and never in sight. One of the reasons he ruled his domain as easily as he did, was that Demetrios had the uncanny ability to not be caught.

She spun around looking, she couldn't see anything. She closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath. "Get a grip Laura." She told herself then continued down the alleyway handing out the food.
